Anybody wanting to try a new hobby?

Are you looking for a new hobby? Why not try learning to cross stitch.

Or are you a cross stitcher looking to make new friends in Royton?

I am thinking about trying to set up a local cross stitch group, where stitchers can meet up once a week in Royton.

If you are interested then email me on roytonstitchers@gmail.com

If I get enough interest then I will look for a venue to host it.

So good to visit again and again

After my previous visit I couldn’t wait to go back, and thankfully it wasn’t too long as I arranged to have a business lunch with 2 colleagues.

We were greeted with smiles and acknowledgements from the staff which was so lovely that they remembered us from before, we were shown to our table and menus handed out, great new covers and I was pleased to see there was still the 2 course £7.50 menu, great for me being lunchtime, as 2 courses is more than enough.

The soup was Mushroom and truffle, OMG it was divine and being Friday I followed with fish and chips, the fish was beautifully cooked and the triple cooked chips so yummy.

My colleagues had the steak and ale pie and couldn’t fault it, I think next time I may try the cheese and onion one.

I was too full for a pudding however of my colleagues squeezed in a latte from the new coffee menu and the other doggy bagged a chocolate and orange torte to take home as he couldn’t resist it.

Once again The Half way house exceeded my expectations and I am eager to return.

Volunteers wanted for Dr Kershaw’s Charity Photo Shoot

Hello,

My names Kerri Worrall, I’m a photographer from the Saddleworth area.
I’ve recently been raising money for the Dr. Kershaws Hospice in Royton and have raised over £100 with help from some friends and my camera.
the next event in the fund raiser I’m doing is a photograph to represent summer.
This means loads of people to gather in a area and get there photo taken with big smiles and i’ll be getting some balloons for people to bash about as well.
I was wondering if you come promote this event on your Facebook page and your website to get more people involved.
This is the event page
https://www.facebook.com/events/275414565926992/?notif_t=plan_user_joined
This image used in the event page is what the Spring picture looked like, the girls got some funny looks in the park that day but it worked out really well.
Thank you for reading this.

A hidden gem, a late lunch at the Halfway House, Royton.

My husband and I enjoyed a late lunch at The Halfway House.

My husband chose the 2 course menu for £7.50, yes £7.50, Garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce on a slice of bloomer, well presented and large enough for 2 to share or a main in my opinion. I chose Scallops from the specials board and yes they were special, again presentation was well above my expectations and they were cooked to perfection.

For mains my husband chose suet pudding with veg and triple cooked homemade chips and I opted for pan fried chicken in a creamy mushroom and garlic sauce, the chicken was very succulent and the cream divine.

The service was impeccable and with 2 coffees and a diet coke the bill was £25, I was astounded.

We were too full for dessert but I saw some of them and next time I will definitely save room for one, and next time can’t come soon enough!

Fantastic opportunity!

Hello ILR, Please could you advertise a volunteering opportunity for me… The volunteer would be given a property in the Greenacres area of Oldham by the company I work for called KeyRing. KeyRing would pay the rent on the property and in return would expect 12 - 14 hours a week volunteering to support vulnerable adults to live independently and maintain their tenancy’s. They would work with up to 10 vulnerable people who live in the area. We work with people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, drug or alcohol issues, families etc it is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in this type of work and there will also be training courses available for people to further their knowledge and experience.
People can inbox me on here or contact our office on 01616284133 for more information.
Thanks ILR : )
