  • £35 Million For Royton town centre!! Introduction I've still got no idea what PACT stands for and neither do I care. It's just a "meeting" as far as I'm concerned. A good old-fashioned "meeting". And here is what happened at the 13th Feb 2012 "meeting"Before I start let me say that the Oldham Chronicle didn't think that this meeting was worthy of their attendance. Neither did the Oldham Advertiser and neither did the MEN. And neither did they send anyone to the previous PACT meeting, or the one before that. There was only 1 single media presence at these meetings and it was ILR. Please write to the Oldham Chron and the Advertiser demanding that they attend these meetings. It ...

  • Flagpole to go back ON TOP of Town Hall? There has been a grumbling of discontent brewing amongst some Roytoners about the lack of a flag pole flying on top of Royton Town Hall. If you look at any old photos of the building you will see a large white pole stuck proudly out of the top of the clock tower. These days, it stands at street level. So here is the latest info on the campaign to get the flagpole stuck back on the very top where it belongs.Cllr Bashforth recently commented on the ILR Facebook page saying that:There's been no flag pole on the top of the town hall for a very long time because of structural problems and there being no means of ...

  • ILR R.I.P Page launched ILR has decided to launch a page which allows you to submit your thoughts and feelings about a loved one that has sadly died. I recognise the fact that people deal with grief in different ways. Some people shut down and never speak of their loss whereas others are keen to talk about their loved one and share their life story with anyone who will listen. For that reason you may now submit your thoughts directly to:www.iloveroyton.com/ripYou may include a copy of the eulogy, a list of hymns from the funeral and you can send in a photo too if you like. Basically, anything goes, it will become your page. In some case I'll ...

  • Cllr Judge breaks news about Royton vs Shaw baths For many months now the battle has been raging over where the new swimming baths should be. Here is the topic he created:http://www.eroyton.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16597His post includes several excerpts from a large report and includes a list of all ...

  • Royton Museum An idea is hatching in Royton to open a museum. It is still very much in the concept stage but there is some enthusiasm that it could be worth doing, if only for a few weeks. It could include the best old photos, perhaps some video clips and certainly some old relics including brewery pots or other historic items. The idea was first posted here:http://www.facebook.com/royton/posts/323946404312476People were then asked what items they could pledge to the museum and Cllr Judge pointed out that Royton library contains some interesting old artefacts. Here is a link to that statushttp://www.facebook.com/royton/posts/324111627629287The progress of the Royton History Museum concept will ...
